Wokingham Choral Society is looking forward to performing its first concert of the season on Saturday November 18th, at 7.30, in Reading University’s Great Hall. We shall be performing two works: Haydn’s uplifting and joyous Theresienmesse (‘Maria Theresa’ Mass), written in 1799, in honour of the Austrian Empress, and Beethoven’s Opferlied (Op.121b), a short song based on a favourite poem of the composer, who loved it so much that he set it four times!

We shall also be enjoying a performance of Mozart’s buoyant Symphony No. 39, the first in his trio of late symphonies, all three written in a blaze of creativity during the summer of 1788, just a few years before his death.

More details, including how to buy tickets, can be found on our website wokingham-choral-society.org.uk. We look forward to seeing you!
